Cultural
information: "Chinese Rhubarb" grows
into a very large plant. Be sure to plant it where it will have
plenty of room to grow. The plant looks very similar to Rhubarb
except it's much larger with serrated leaves. In early summer
"Chinese Rhubarb" develops long stems that reach high
above the foliage producing numerous small red flowers. Plant in
full sun to partial shade in compost rich, moist or boggy soil.
The leaves of all Rheum varieties are poisonous. If ingested
they may cause severe stomach discomfort... no wonder it rarely
has pest problems.
