Cultural information:  "Sweet Flag" gets its name from its aromatic foliage which resembles Citrus. Some say the foliage can have a cinnamon scent. Plant new plants in the spring either near the ponds edge in soil that is constantly wet or in the pond at a maximum water depth of 10". After the plants have become established, they can be divided. Remove dead or dying foliage and flowers as they appear.

Acornus calamus 'Variegatus' is a prettier form that is variegated with a more compact growth habit.
