Cultural
information: "Sweet Flag" gets its
name from its aromatic foliage which resembles Citrus. Some say
the foliage can have a cinnamon scent. Plant new plants in the
spring either near the ponds edge in soil that is constantly wet
or in the pond at a maximum water depth of 10". After the
plants have become established, they can be divided. Remove dead or dying
foliage and flowers as they appear.
Acornus calamus 'Variegatus'
is a prettier form that is variegated with a more compact growth
habit.
