Wildflower Field notes: Black-eyed Susan is a common wildflower. It has beautiful flowers with a large black to brown disk protruding from the center of the flower giving the flower head a three dimensional appearance. Look for Black-eyed Susan in sunny areas such as, clearings in aspen groves, in meadows, slopes, and along roadways. 

Black-Eyed Susan is an excellent choice for the wildflower garden. Deer and Elk generally won't browse on them.
During the spring planting season your local Garden Center will have pre-started containers of Rudbeckia hirta available... as well as several new hybrids.
