Field notes: Twinflower is a low growing plant that forms a
dense mat on the forest floor. It is often overlooked due to its inconspicuous
growth habit and small nodding flowers. To get this picture of
Twinflower blossoms I had to hold the tiny flowers in one hand and
shoot the image with the other.
Look for Twinflower in shaded
moist areas in the pine forest. It can also be found growing near
water sources or in moss banks.
