Pictured Wildflower: Prickly Lettuce Lactuca serriola
Wildflower Field notes: Prickly Lettuce is very common. This clump was growing on the shore line at Stagecoach Reservoir where I parked my boat. I noticed its flowers would open daily around 9AM, by noon they were closed.

Look for Prickly Lettuce in dry, sunny areas in fields, prairies, and along roadways. Prickly Lettuce will grow nearly anywhere... including gardens.
