Field notes: Western Scarlet Gilia is sometimes called Fairy
Trumpet because of its long tubular flowers. Western Scarlet Gilia
is quite common and easy to find. Look for Western Scarlet Gilia growing in dry sunny
areas along roadways, fields and meadows, and clearings in
forests.
Western Scarlet Gilia is very drought tolerant making it
an excellent choice for the xeriscape or wildflower garden.
