notes: Although the foliage of Fireweed is not much to
look at... the flowers are outstanding. Fireweed produces a long
spike of flower buds that sit at the top of the plant. The flowers
open from the bottom of the spike first... slowly working there
way to the top. Each flower last only a day or two.
Look for
Fireweed growing along roads, trails, meadows, and in clearings of
pine or aspen forests.
