Cultivation:
Plant in full sun in light, well worked moist soil. Prefers acidic
well drained soil... but will adapt to most soil types except hard
heavy soil where the plant tends to rot. Space new container grown
plants 15" apart. Deadhead after initial
flowering to promote new flower growth. "Stokes Aster" dislikes having wet feet while
dormant. Requires mulching for winter protection. Flowers are excellent for cutting.
Propagation:
Seed should be started in a cold frame or greenhouse in fall and
held until spring. Your best bet is to purchase pre-started plants
at your local Garden Center. Once established, plants can be
divided in spring.
