Cultivation:
Plant in full sun in compost rich, well drained soil. Prefers
sandy, acidic soils... but will adapt to most soil types.
"Checkerbloom" dislikes being constantly wet, allowing
it's soil to thoroughly dry down between waterings. Mulch
for winter protection. Flowers are good for cutting.
Propagation:
Seed can be started in a cold frame or greenhouse in early spring,
then moved outdoors after danger of frost has passed. For much
quicker growth... purchase pre-started plants at your local Garden
Center. Once established, plants may be divided in spring or fall.
