Cultivation:
Candy Lily is a hybrid plant created by crossing Belamcanda and
Pardonthopsis. This clump forming perennial has leaves
similar to an Iris and only grows to about 18" tall. Candy
Lily produces its Lily like flowers mid to late summer with each
flower only lasting about one day. Spent flowers will turn into
black berries by fall.
Plant Candy Lily in full sun or light shade in fertile well drained soil.
It adapts to most
soil types, and tolerates the heat of summer well. Candy Lily
prefers the soil to be a little on the dry side. Lightly mulch
plants at the end of the growing season.
Propagation:
Purchase pre-started Candy Lily plants at your local Garden Center. Once
established, plants may be divided in spring. Seed may be
collected once ripe and planted the following season.
