Perennial Cultivation: Originally from Morocco, this small clump forming perennial Poppy has found its way into western gardens. In mid spring the plant will start producing 3" single petaled salmon colored flowers followed by an attractive seed pod. Atlantic Poppy blossoms usually only last one day. Seed pods can be harvested and dried for dry floral arrangements.

Plant Atlantic Poppies in full sun in fertile, well drained soil. Atlantic Poppies are short lived... but freely re-seed themselves.

Propagation:
Purchased seed or gathered seed can be started in a cold frame or greenhouse and moved outdoors after danger of frost has passed. Atlantic Poppy is slow to grow from seed. For quicker growth purchase pre-started plants in packs or pots from your local Garden Center. Space new transplants 6" to 12" apart. Once established, plants can be easily divided in early spring.

Potential pests ~ diseases:
Powdery mildew.
