Perennial
Cultivation:
Alpine Poppies are a small compact perennial well suited to wildflower
beds or rock gardens. They are an excellent choice for high
altitude gardening.
Plant Alpine Poppies in full sun in fertile, well drained soil.
When grown in the city Alpine Poppies would appreciate some mid
day shade. Alpine
Poppies are short lived, but re-seed freely. They grow equally well in
containers or beds
Propagation:
Alpine Poppies are quite slow to grow from seed. Seed can be started in a cold frame or greenhouse and moved
outdoors after danger of frost has passed. For quicker growth purchase
pre-started plants in packs or pots from your local Garden Center
or greenhouse. Space new transplants 4" to 10" apart
depending on how quickly you wish the area to fill in.
