Perennial
Cultivation:
This variety of Evening Primrose is a Colorado native plant that
can be found growing in fields or slopes at lower elevations. This
easy to grow clump forming perennial produces and abundance of
pink flower for most of the growing season.
Plant Evening Primrose in full sun in well drained soil. They
tolerate poor soils and drought extremely well. The fragrant white to pinkish
blush flowers open late in the
afternoon and usually close by noon the next day.
Propagation:
Seed can be sown in individual pots in a cold frame or greenhouse
and moved outdoors after danger of frost has passed, or purchase
pre-started plants at your local Garden Center. Space new container grown plants
8" - 12"
apart. Oenothera caespitosa grows a large tap
root which makes the plant very difficult to divide once
established.
Potential pests ~ diseases:
Mildews or root rot if kept to wet.
