Cultivation:
White Evening Primrose has an unusual flowering habit. The large
white flowers open late in the day and continue blooming until the
following morning. The individual flowers generally only last
about 24 hours, but the plant will produce flowers for several
months.
White Evening Primrose is an easy perennial to grow. Plant it in full sun in well drained soil.
Once established it tolerates poor soils, neglect and
drought extremely well. A good choice for slopes, rock gardens or walls.
Propagation:
Seed can easily be started in a cold frame or greenhouse and moved
outdoors after danger of frost has passed. For quicker growth,
purchase pre-started White Evening Primrose plants at your local Garden Center. Space new container grown plants 12"
- 18" apart. Once
established, runners can be separated and re-planted in spring.
Potential pests ~ diseases:
Mildews or root rot if kept to wet.
