Perennial Cultivation: Plume Poppy is a large clump forming almost shrub like perennial that can become invasive under ideal growing conditions.

Plant Plume Poppy in full sun to light shade in well drained soil. It tolerates poor soils well. Mid day shade from summer heat is beneficial.

Once established Plume Poppy is very vigorous and can easily out compete neighboring plants. Each spring the clumps can be thinned to control spread. Deadheading spent flowers also helps to prevent unwanted spreading.

The flower plumes of Plume Poppy are good for cutting for either fresh or dried arrangements. Spray dried plumes with a floral fixative available at craft stores.

Propagation:
Seed can be started in a cold frame or greenhouse in early spring and moved outdoors after danger of frost has passed, or purchase pre-started Poppy Plume plants at your local Garden Center. Plants can be divided in spring.

Potential pests ~ diseases:
Rare.
