Perennial Cultivation: Red Hot Poker is an unusual perennial that is very easy to grow.

Plant in full sun to light shade in fertile, well drained soil. Red Hot Poker prefers sandy soils. Tritoma tolerates short periods of drought well. Mulch new plants their first year for winter protection. Red Hot Poker flowers are excellent for use as a cut flower.

Propagation:
Purchase pre-started Tritoma plants at your local Garden Center. After the second or third season plants can be divided mid spring. Cutting older plants back will stimulate offshoots that can be removed after two seasons growth.
