Perennial Cultivation: Plant Dwarf Crested Iris in full sun to partial shade, in fertile well drained soil. The "Dwarf Crested Iris" is tolerant of shade.

Space new container grown plants 12" - 15" apart. They say it is best to plant Irises mid summer to early fall, although they can be planted in spring. After the plant has finished flowering just remove the flower spike but don't cut the plant back to the ground.

Dwarf Crested Iris flowers are excellent as a cut flower for fresh floral arrangements. All parts of Iris are poisonous.

Purchase pre-started plants at your local Garden Center or greenhouse. Once established plants may be divided mid-summer.

Potential pests ~ diseases:
Aphids, Iris borer, and thrips. We have images of Aphids and thrips in the houseplant section of the site.
