Perennial
Cultivation:
Plant Whirling Butterflies in full sun in fertile, well drained soil. Gaura is very
drought and heat tolerant.
Space new container grown Whirling Butterfly plants about 18" - 24" apart. Lightly cut back
the plants after their
first flowering. Mulching at the end of the growing season helps
the plant to over winter.
Propagation:
Seed may be started in a cold frame or greenhouse in early
spring, then moved outdoors after danger of frost has passed. For
faster growth and quicker flowering purchase pre-started plants at your local
garden shop or greenhouse.
Once Gaura has become established the plants may be divided in spring.
