Bleeding Heart
Perennial Cultivation: Plant Bleeding Hearts in full shade or in a location that receives cool, early or late day sunshine. They prefer moist, fertile soils. 

Space new container grown Bleeding Heart plants 24" - 36" apart. Greenhouse grown "Bleeding Hearts" should only be planted outdoors after danger of frost has passed. "Bleeding Heart" stems are hollow and are not able to withstand high winds, so it is best to plant them in a protected area. 

Most Dicentra varieties are poisonous.
 
Propagation:
Purchasing pre-started Bleeding Heart plants at your local greenhouse is your best bet. "Bleeding Heart" dislikes its roots being disturbed and is difficult to divide.
