Perennial Cultivation: Garden Mums or Fall Mums are generally planted in the fall to provide some late season color. Garden Mum plants can be purchased in flower during spring and should re-flower in fall. Plant them in moist, fertile well drained soil in full sun. Garden Mums do not perform well indoors.

While the Fall Garden Mum is growing buds the soil should be kept moist to avoid bud drop. After hard frost has blackened the foliage, cut back to ground level and mulch the Garden Mums for the winter. Their cheery flowers are excellent for cutting.

All parts of Dendranthema's may cause upset stomach if ingested. Contact with sap or foliage may irritate sensitive skin.

Propagation:
"Garden Mums" can be grown from seed... but this process is quite slow. We recommend purchasing pre-started plants at your local Garden Center. Once established plants can be divided in spring or late fall after flowering.

Potential pests ~ diseases:
Rare, but keep an eye out for aphids.
