Cultivation:
Snowcap Rock Cress is also a low growing mat forming perennial
that makes an excellent groundcover when grown on slopes, in beds,
or in
rock gardens. Once established Snowcap Rock Cress will cover
itself with small white fragrant flowers in early spring. From a
distance it looks like snow.
Plant Snowcap Rock Cress in full sun in well drained soil.
Soils that drain well are important to successfully growing
Snowcap. It tolerates poor
soils, and hot dry conditions fairly well.
Propagation: Seed can be started in a cold frame but
for quicker growth, visit your local garden center and purchase
pre-started plants. Space new
container grown plants 8" - 12" apart depending on how
quickly you wish the area to fill in. Plants can be dug and divided in the
spring, or divide
Snowcap Rock Cress plants every
three years during the fall to help maintain plant vigor.
