Plant Select™ 1999
Perennial Cultivation: The Remembrance Columbine was named in memory of the victims of Columbine High School tragedy back in October of 1999.

Ball Seed Company, The Garden Centers of Colorado, the Denver Botanic Gardens and several Plant Select® growers participated in a program to promote Columbine Remembrance in memory of Columbine High School. Proceeds from the program were donated to the Jefferson Foundation which provides scholarships to JeffCo students.

The Remembrance Columbine has large deep purple and white flowers that either face outwards or upwards. Flowers generally appear mid to late spring, and under ideal conditions can continue to bloom most of the growing season.

Plant Columbine Remembrance in full sun to partial shade in fertile, moist well drained soil. If planted in full sun, shade from mid day heat helps keep the plant vigorous and prolong its flowering season.

Propagation:
Columbine Remembrance can easily be grown from seed. For faster growth purchase pre-started Columbine plants at your local Garden Center. Space new container grown plants 12" - 18" apart depending on how quickly you wish the are to fill in.  Established Columbine plants are a bit difficult to transplant or divide as the plants roots dislike being disturbed.

Potential pests ~ diseases:
Aphids or powdery mildew as summer nights turn cool in the fall.
