Aquilegia alpina 'Biedermeier'
Perennial Cultivation: Biedermeier Columbine is a low growing variety of Aquilegia that blooms mid spring. It is available in straight colors or a mix in cell packs or pots. Biedermeier is a good choice for rock gardens, bed borders and containers. Butterflies are attracted to the colorful flowers.

Plant Biedermeier Mix Columbines in full sun to partial shade in fertile, moist well drained soil. Providing the plant with mid day shade from summer heat is beneficial. Most varieties of Columbine are self seeders.

Propagation:
The plant can easily be grown from seed. For quicker results purchase pre-started Biedermeier Mix Columbine plants at your local Garden Center. Space new container grown plants 10" to 14" apart. Columbine are difficult to divide as the plants roots dislike being disturbed once established.
