Herbs Cultural information: "Valerian" seed is difficult to germinate. For better results purchase pre-started plants from your local Garden Center. 

Space newly purchase container plants about 12" apart in full sun to partial shade in fertile well drained soil. "Valerian" should be divided and re-planted every few years to maintain plant vigor. Thin Valarian plants occasionally to prevent over crowding.

Harvesting & Storage: "Valerian" roots are harvested in the spring before foliage emerges or in the late fall after the foliage has died back. Bake the root at low temperatures in the oven until dry. Store in a tightly sealed container after drying.
