Pictured Houseplant:
10" Passion Flower Vine
Houseplant Cultural information: "Passion Vine" is not the prettiest plant around but when it produces it's exotic flowers... you'll be happy you own one. See the inset picture of the flowers compliments of corbis.com.

"Passion Flower" needs direct sunlight for part of the day or very bright indirect light all day to flower. Keep the soil moist, occasionally allowing the plant to dry to it's wilting point. When the plant is growing, feed monthly... when the plant is resting feed bi-monthly with a balanced liquid plant food. You can train your plant to grow on nearly any thing. We used to grow them in large clay pots with an interesting tree branch planted in the pot for the vines to attach to. It really added to the beauty of this exotic flowering plant. Propagating stem cuttings is difficult.

"Passion Flowers" are usually available during the spring, but may be located year round. Generally they are produced in 10" containers with an inexpensive wooden trellis for the plant to climb on.
