Houseplant Cultural information: The Guzmania family of Bromeliads are available in nearly every shade of the color spectrum ranging from small compact plants, to large 3 foot or larger specimens. As with nearly all Bromeliads... Guzmanias are really easy to grow. These colorful plants are an excellent choice for the beginning houseplant enthusiast.

Since most Guzmania plants are discarded after they have finished blooming they can be placed any where in the home or office except for hot direct sunshine or near heating vents. The blooms of a Guzmaina can last between 6 to 12 weeks or more. A Guzmania Bromeliad will only flower once in its lifetime.

If you intend to keep your Guzmania Bromeliad long term, place it in very bright indirect light near an east, south or west facing window.

Guzmania Bromeliads prefer to have their soil moist at all times. Water your plant by pouring water down the stem of the plant creating a little water fall that ends at the soil, being careful not to pour water into upper leaves of the plant where the bloom is growing from. Or you can just water the top of the soil until water emerges from the drain holes. Remove excess water from the drip tray within 24 hours.

Guzmania Bromeliads are difficult to propagate. If your Guzmania happens to develop pups follow the instructions for propagating Silver Vase Bromeliads.

Guzmania Bromeliads generally don't seem to attract any houseplant pests.

Guzmaina's are available in small 4" pots, as well as 6" and 8" containers.
