General Floral Greens Care: Keep the water in the vase of your Song of India fresh. Replace the water every 3 days with cool water keeping the water level near the top of the vase.

Re-cut 1/2" from the base of each Song of India stem under water using a sharp knife with each water change. Remove any foliage that may become submerged after re-cutting.

Variety note: Here's yet another plant that is used in both the floral trade and the house plant industry. In its native environment Pleomele reflexa Song of India is used as a hedge plant. Its stiff woody stems make it easy to work with in floral design. Song of India stem lengths can vary from 12" to 24" long. Song of India is sold by the stem and usually quite pricey.

Add a commercial floral preservative such as AquaPlus or FloraLife to the vase that contains your Song of India with each water change. Floral preservative helps to prevent bacteria growth, aids in keeping vase water clear, and feeds your flowers and foliages insuring a longer vase life.

If you run out of commercial flower preservative you can make your own fresh cut flower food mix 1/2 teaspoon of table sugar to a quart of cold water... mixing thoroughly.
