General Cut Flower Care: Keep the water in the vase of your Hybrid Tea Rose or Standard Roses fresh. Clean vase water is the key element in maintaining a long vase life with Roses. Replace the water daily with cold water keeping the water level near the top of the vase. Re-cut 1/2" from the base of each stem under water using a sharp knife with each water change. Roses should be QuickDipped immediately after cutting to help prevent bent neck. Remove any foliage that may become submerged after re-cutting.

Variety note: Hybrid Tea and Standard Rose are the most popular flower in the USA. Hybrid Teas and Standard Roses are available in an immense choice of colors. When selecting Roses look for Roses with straight stems and flower heads. Bent heads can indicate the flower may be old, or has lost its hydration. Place your Roses in a cool location out of direct sunshine. Do not allow your Roses to run the vase dry. It is very important to ways cut Hybrid Tea Roses and Standard Roses under water.

Hybrid Tea Roses are usually sold in bunches of 25 stems. Some extra large varieties are sold in a bunch of 20. Roses are available in several stem sizes, 40cm, 50cm, 60cm, 70cm, and 80cm. For 2006 a new Rose is being marketed that has stems nearly 5' long.

Add a commercial floral preservative such as AquaPlus or FloraLife to the vase that contains your Hybrid Tea Roses with each water change. Floral preservative helps to prevent bacterial growth, aids in keeping vase water clear, and feeds your flowers and foliages insuring a longer vase life.

To make your own cut flower food mix 1/2 teaspoon of table sugar to a quart of cold water... mixing thoroughly.

For reasons unknown to us (they say supply and demand... supply is good... no shortages, so is demand) the price of Roses nearly doubles on Valentine's Day. We can guarantee you... it's not the floral shop that is marking up the Roses. Florist actually make less money on roses during Valentine's Day... as opposed to Roses that are regularly priced during the rest of the year.
