Tropical Flower Care: Keep the water in the vase of your
Sharry Baby Oncidium Orchids fresh. Replace the water every 3 days with
warm water keeping the water level near the top of the vase. Re-cut
1/2" from the base of each Oncidium stem under water using a
sharp knife with each water change. Remove any flowers that may become submerged after re-cutting.
Variety note: Some what
similar in look to "Spider Orchids" Sharry Baby has
bigger flowers with a large, white lower petal and five deep
burgundy petals on the upper half of the flower. The flower has a
fairly strong chocolate fragrance. A mature plant grown in a
container can produce over 300 flowers twice per year. Sharry Baby
Oncidium bunches are quite long sometimes measuring 36".
Sharry Baby is sold in 5 or 10 stem bunches.
Sharry Baby was created by crossing Oncidium 'Jamie'
with Oncidium 'Honolulu'.
Virtually every cut Orchid enjoys normal house temperatures.
Add a commercial floral preservative such as AquaPlus or
FloraLife to the vase that contains your Sharry
Baby Oncidiums with each water change. Floral preservative helps to
prevent bacterial growth and feeds your flowers insuring a
longer vase life.
If you run out of commercial flower preservative you can make
your own fresh cut flower food mix 1/2 teaspoon of table sugar to
a quart of cold water... mixing thoroughly.
