General
Tropical Flower Care: Keep the water in the vase of your
Jade Dendrobium
Orchids fresh. Replace the water every 3 days with warm water keeping the water level near the top of the vase.
Re-cut
1/4" from the base of each Dendrobium stem under water using a
sharp knife with each water change. Remove any flowers that may become submerged after re-cutting.
Variety note: This
Dendrobium has very unique pale chartreuse colored blossoms.
Dendrobium orchids bunches measure between 14" to 24" in length depending on variety. Dendrobium orchids with
large flowers are usually a short bunch while Dendros with
small flowers are usually a long bunch. Dendrobium orchids are sold in
either 5 or 10 stem bunches.
Nearly all fresh cut Orchids are shipped in from overseas
growers. Their climate is better suited to Orchid production than
here in the USA. Imported Dendrobium Orchids take 3 to 4 days to
arrive at their destination, so growers place water tubes on every
stem to keep them hydrated during shipping.
Virtually every cut Orchid enjoys normal house temperatures.
Dendrobium Orchids have a vase life of 10 to 20 days or more. I've
had bunches in my house that have lasted three weeks before the
hit the compost pile.
Add a commercial floral preservative such as AquaPlus or
FloraLife to the vase that contains your Dendrobium Orchid
with each water change. Floral preservative helps to prevent
bacterial growth and feeds your Orchid flowers helping to insure a longer vase
life.
To make your own cut flower food mix 1/2 teaspoon of table
sugar to a quart of cold water... mixing thoroughly.
