Cut Flower Care: Keeping the
water in the vase of your Delphinium Volkenfrieden fresh can add a
few days of vase life to your fresh cut flowers. Replace the water every 3 days with cold
water... keeping the water level near the top of the vase. Re-cut
1/2" from the base of each Delphinium stem under water using a
sharp knife. with each water change. Remove any foliage
that may become submerged after re-cutting to avoid bacterial
growth.
Variety note: Delphinium
Volkenfrieden is available year round in two shades light blue and
dark electric blue. Bunches usually are 36"
or more in length with 10 stems per bunch. Flowers open from the
bottom of the stem working their way to the top... so when shopping for Delphinium
its best to select a bunch with a few inches of closed flowers at
the top of the stem. For the longest vase life freshly cut stems
should be dipped in QuickDip immediately after cutting for a few
seconds.
Add a commercial floral preservative such as AquaPlus or
FloraLife to the vase that contains
your Delphinium Volkenfrieden with each water change. Floral
preservative helps to prevent bacteria growth and feeds your flowers insuring a long vase life. To make your own
cut flower food mix 1/2 teaspoon of table sugar to a quart of cold
water... mixing thoroughly.
