Cut Flower Care: Keep the water in the vase of your Corn Cockle fresh. Replace the water every 3 days with
cold water keeping the water level near the top of the vase.
Re-cut 1/2" from the base of each Agrostemma stem under water using
a sharp knife with each water change. Remove any foliage
that may become submerged after re-cutting to avoid bacterial
growth.
Variety note: Corn
Cockle is only available during late spring to early summer. Corn
Cockle flowers are purple (pictured), and white. Bunches are
fairly short
measuring 18" to 24" or more
in length with 10 stems per bunch. The stems are thin and have
several flowers at various heights on each stem. A great addition
to spring bouquets. The delicate flowers of Agrostemma have a relatively
short vase life.
Agrostemma is a popular annual garden flower that can be
purchased at your local garden center during spring.
Add a commercial floral preservative such as AquaPlus or
FloraLife to the vase that contains your Corn Cockle with
each water change. Floral preservative helps to prevent bacteria
growth and feeds your flowers helping to extend vase life. To
make your own cut flower food mix 1/2 teaspoon of table sugar to a
quart of cold water... mixing thoroughly.
