General Cut Flower Care: Keep the vase water of your "Mini Carnations" fresh. Replace the water every 3 days with cold water keeping the water level near the top of the vase. Re-cut 1/2" from the base of each Mini Carnation stem under water using a sharp knife with each water change. Remove any foliage that may become submerged after re-cutting to avoid bacterial growth.

Variety note: The color selections available today in pixie "Carnations" is extremely diverse making it difficult to choose which variety you might like best. Many of the Mini "Carnations" have a vase life of about two weeks a great value for your dollar. When shopping for mini Carnations, look for stems with a few open flowers at the top of the bunch and several tight buds lower down the bunch. Your local Flower Shop should have a good selection for you to choose from. Mini Carnations are sold in 10 stem bunches.

Add a commercial floral preservative such as AquaPlus or FloraLife to the vase that contains your Pixie Carnations with each water change. Floral preservative helps to prevent bacteria growth and feeds your flowers insuring a longer vase life. To make your own cut flower food mix 1/2 teaspoon of table sugar to a quart of cold water... mixing thoroughly.
