Cut Flower Care: Keep the water in the vase of your
"Bouvardia" fresh. Replace the water every 3 days with
cold water keeping the water level near the top of the vase.
Re-cut 1/2" from the base of each Bouvardia stem under water using
a sharp knifewith each water change. Be sure to remove any foliage
that may become submerged after re-cutting to avoid bacterial
growth.
Variety note: Bouvardia
is available nearly year round with occasional breaks in supply on
and off throughout the year. Bouvardia has star shaped Jasmine
like flowers and is available in peach,
pink, orange, red, and white. Bunches measure 18" to 24" or more
in length with 10 stems per bunch. The stems are quite thick and
easy to work with. A favorite for hand tied bouquets. Bouvardia
does not last well in floral foam. Spent flowers can be removed as new flowers
open.
Bouvardia was named after the English Dr. Charles Bouvard.
Add a commercial floral preservative such as AquaPlus or
FloraLife to the vase that contains your Bouvardia with
each water change. Floral preservative helps to prevent bacteria
growth and feeds your flowers insuring a longer vase life. To
make your own cut flower food mix 1/2 teaspoon of table sugar to a
quart of cold water... mixing thoroughly.
