General Cut Flower Care: Keep the water in the vase of your Bells of Ireland fresh. It is important to replace the water every 3 days with cold water keeping the water level near the top of the vase. Re-cut 1/2" from the base of each Bells of Ireland stem under water using a sharp knife with each water change. Remove any of the "Bells" that may become submerged after re-cutting to avoid bacterial growth.

Variety note: Bells of Ireland are prized as a cut or dried flower. They are also grown as a annual in the garden. The stems of Bells of Ireland are hollow making them difficult to use with Oasis foam. Professional florists insert a wired stake into the hollow stem for use in foam. Bells of Ireland have small thorns near their cup shaped leaves. Molucella laevis is available year round and sold in bunches of 7 - 10 stems.

Common name include; Shell Flower and Bell Flower.

Add a commercial floral preservative such as AquaPlus or FloraLife to the vase that contains your Bells of Ireland with each water change. Floral preservative helps to prevent bacteria growth and feeds your flowers insuring a longer vase life. To make your own cut flower food mix 1/2 teaspoon of table sugar to a quart of cold water... mixing thoroughly.
