General Cut Flower Care: Keep the water in the vase of your Alstroemeria fresh. Replace the water every 3 days with cold water keeping the water level near the top of the vase. Re-cut 1/2" from the base of each stem under water using a sharp knife with each water change. Remove any foliage that may become submerged after re-cutting to avoid bacteria growth.

Variety note: Peruvian Lily is available year round in nearly every color imaginable. Bunches usually measure 30" to 36" or more in length with 10 stems per bunch. Alstroemeria prefers cool temperatures so it grows best from early fall to late spring. During this time of year you'll notice that Peruvian Lily bunches are at their best. The lower leaves of Alstroemeria should be removed before being placed in a vase.

There are over 25 varieties of of Alstroemeria available... most of which are hybrid "Peruvian Lilies" known as Ligtu hybrids.

Add a commercial floral preservative such as AquaPlus or FloraLife to the vase that contains your Alstroemeria with each water change. Floral preservative helps to prevent bacteria growth... and feeds your flowers insuring a longer vase life. To make your own cut flower food mix 1/2 teaspoon of table sugar to a quart of cold water... mixing thoroughly.
