Potted Bulbs Cultural information: Mixed Bulb gardens give you a little bit of every thing in a single container. Some of the plants in the pictured bulb garden are just beginning to flower. A nice benefit of a bulb garden is that the plants all bloom on different schedules so you'll ll be able to enjoy your little bit of indoor spring a little longer.

When selecting a bulb garden looks for plants with dark green foliage that is standing up right. Avoid plants with yellowed foliage, indicating neglect. It is normal for the lower inch or so of the plant to be pale green or whitish. Bulb gardens are available at your local Garden Center or Floral Shop from late December thru March.

Once you get your new Bulb Garden home place it in bright indirect light away from heat sources, such as TV's or heat ducts. Heat will speed up the natural flowering process shortening the life span of your plant. Bulb Gardens are usually potted in a sandy soil which provides excellent drainage for your plant. Be sure to set your plant in a saucer or drip tray to catch the water that is sure to run out. Water your plant every couple of days. Fertilizing is not necessary. Once your Bulb Garden has finished flowering recycle it to the compost pile and replace it with a new flowering plant.

You can find potted mixed bulb gardens at your local Colorado Garden center or Floral shop.

Forced bulbs will not re-flower if planted outdoors.
