| Cultivation:
The Designer series of Geraniums have extra large, brightly
colored flower heads that are available in 20 colors. Plant Zonal
Geraniums in
full sun to partial shade in fertile, well drained soil either in
beds or containers. Space plants 10" - 12" apart. Feed monthly with a balanced liquid
fertilizer. Zonal geraniums are most often grown in
containers... which can be brought indoors to a sunny window
before first frost.
There are two types of Zonal Geraniums. Those that are grown
from seed... which generally have small single flower heads and a
petite growth habit with limey green foliage. Seed Geraniums are
usually less expensive and are commonly used for mass plantings in
beds. The second type... which the Designer series belongs to, are
propagated by cuttings. They have a much larger growth habit with
large showy flowers and deep green foliage. They are very well
suited to container growing. The brightly colored flowers of
Geranium's are excellent for attracting hummingbirds.
