| Cultivation:
"Heliotrope" has been a favorite of gardeners
since the early 50's. Due to hybridization... the plant has lost
most of the fragrance its ancestors once had. 'Atlantis' has
managed to retain it's vanilla scent.
Plant Heliotrope Atlantis in full sun to light
shade in any fertile well drained soil in either beds or
containers. A great choice for mixed planters as the rich textured
foliage and clusters of purple flowers seem to mix well with many
plants. "Heliotrope" is an excellent choice for
attracting Butterflies.
Remove spent flowers to help promote new flower growth. My own
Heliotrope plants seemed to be fairly drought hardy as I frequently
forgot to water them and they still rewarded me with flowers all
summer long.
Potential pests ~ diseases: Whiteflies.
