Cultivation: Cosmos are extremely easy to grow. Even those with a black thumb should have success with them. Cosmos actually prefer dry poor soils and a bit of neglect. There quite drought tolerant. The 'Sonata' family of Cosmos have a compact growth habit making them an excellent choice for container gardening and attracting butterflies.

Plant Cosmos Sonata White in full sun in fertile well drained soil in either beds or containers. They tolerate heat well... but may need frequent waterings. Cosmos grow quickly and flower prolifically. Remove spent flowers to promote new flower growth. Cosmos are vigorous re-seeders. The following spring you should see plenty of new volunteers. 

Cosmos thin flowers are good for pressing or used as a fresh cut flower.

Aphids or powdery mildew.
