Cultivation: Cosmos are extremely easy to grow. Even those with a black thumb should have success growing Cosmos. Cosmos actually prefer dry poor soils and a bit of neglect. They are quite drought tolerant. The 'Sonata' family of Cosmos have a compact growth habit making them an excellent choice for container gardening and attracting butterflies.

Plant Cosmos Sonata Carmine in full sun in fertile well drained soil in either beds or containers. They tolerate heat and drought well. Xeric Daisies grow quickly and flower prolifically. Remove spent flowers to promote new flower growth. Cosmos are vigorous re-seeders. Once planted you should see plenty of new volunteers the following spring. 

Cosmos papery thin flowers are great for pressing and excellent for cutting as a fresh cut flower.
