| Cultivation:
Cosmos are extremely easy to grow.
Even those with a black thumb should have success growing
Cosmos.
Cosmos actually prefer dry poor soils and a bit of neglect. They
are quite drought tolerant. The 'Sonata' family of Cosmos have a compact growth habit making
them an excellent choice for container gardening and attracting
butterflies.
Plant Cosmos Sonata Carmine in full sun in fertile well drained soil in either beds
or containers. They tolerate heat and drought well. Xeric Daisies grow quickly and flower prolifically. Remove
spent flowers to promote new flower growth. Cosmos are vigorous
re-seeders. Once planted you should see plenty of new volunteers the
following spring.
Cosmos papery thin flowers are great for pressing and excellent for
cutting as a fresh cut flower.
Potential pests ~ diseases: Aphids or powdery mildew.
