Cultivation: 'Florence Blue' is a dwarf Centaurea, also know as Cornflower or Bachelors Buttons. Its compact growth habit makes Cornflower an excellent choice for container gardening.

Plant Bachelors Buttons in full sun in fertile well drained soil in either beds or containers. Once established, most cultivars of Centaurea are fairly drought tolerant. Often times the plant will re-seed itself appearing again the next spring.

Cornflower blossoms are excellent for cutting or drying. Dried flowers retain their color better if dried in an oven at 175 degrees for 1/2 hour.

Potential pests ~ diseases:
Mildews.
