Cultivation: Bulbine frutescens is a member of the lily family. It requires a sunny location but tolerates light shade. It will adapt to most well drained soils with a preference towards sandy soil types. Orange Bulbine dislikes having wet feet for long periods as it is a fairly drought tolerant annual. Hybrid Bulbine is very sensitive to cold temperatures so its best to set out well after danger of frost has passed. A good choice for rock gardens.

It is said that the sap of Bulbine has similar characteristics to Aloe Vera for treating burns.
