Cultivation: There are three types of "Kale"... Flowering Cabbage, Fringed leaf "Kale" and Feather leaf "Kale". "Chidori White' is of the fringed leaf type. The plants are usually available in early spring or fall... as they are a cool weather plant.

Plant in full sun in fertile well drained soil either in beds or containers. Adding a bit of lime to the soil is not a bad idea. "Flowering Kale" will tolerate light frosts in early spring along with late season frosts which seem to intensify their coloration. Pick a leaf or two as decoration for the dinner plate.

Ornamental Kale is widely used by florists for fall and winter theme floral arrangements.

Potential pests ~ diseases:
Aphids, leaf minors, and mildews.
